We don't need our heads cause our bodies are young.

Remember when I mentioned the band A Great Big Pile of Leaves (AGBPOL) last week? Well, their new album, Have You Seen My Prefrontal Cortex?, comes out today! I was lucky enough to get an advance copy and have been listening to it rather obsessively. This album is insanely catchy and puts me in an excellent mood.

AGBPOL is an indie rock trio from Brooklyn that sounds like a dancey version of The National, they are also a bit quirky like fun. All reasons why I am a fan. I love listening (and dancing around) to a band that is not only talented, but also just fun with no deep, dark lyrics. Several of the songs are primary instrumental with a strong jazz influence.

While the whole album is really excellent there are a few standout racks that you must listen to:

Alligator Bop - This is the first track and it really sets the upbeat, energetic tone for the rest of the album. See the recently released video. It includes adorable chalk drawings.

We Don't Need Our Heads - I love the lyric "We don't need our heads/cause our bodies are young." This song keeps getting stuck in my head, it makes me want to be carefree and enjoy my youth. Being responsible is overrated, am I right? Complete side note: Yesterday I rode on a motorcycle for the first time. Flying through the city at night, this song was playing in my head.

Vampires In Love - A song about vampires and zombies? Yes.

Bring Back Breakfast - I love this song because it reminds me of one of my favorite songs from their older EPs (which are free to download here!), Bring Back Recess. Also, a song about cereal? There is nothing not to love.

Learn to Share - Starts out slow and then picks up. I can't listen to this song without tapping my foot. So upbeat and catchy. I think this is my favorite track.

Moving In Slow - This track is much less upbeat than most of the album, but it has so much intensity. It is a powerful ending to the 13 track record.

These are my favorite tracks, but honestly, from start to finish this album is great. A must listen for sure! I would love to see these guys in concert. Go check them out!
