Betty won’t stop listening to modern rock.

I took a break from being overwhelmed about packing last night to take my teenage cousin to see Motion City Soundtrack at the Union Transfer in Philly. The openers were a band that is Jersey famous called the Front Bottoms, they were dancey with funny lyrics, and the Henry Clay People (who I could've done without).

Do you remember your first concert? I actually don't. I think it was The Who reunion tour with my brother or Queen (without Freddie, of course), or maybe it was just the local ska band. Seeing someone experience a band you're a huge fan of for the first time is a really fun thing.  I'm also glad that the younger generation still has an appreciation for pop-punk. She loves Blink-182!

I love any excuse to stand up front and jump around like a fangirl, so it was a very fun show.

So, tell me about your first concert!

  1. Haha its always fun to go to a show and jump around to the music!
My first big concert was Backstreet Boys when I was 15. I was a huge fan! I loved them so much. AJ McLean was my dream boat! haha.
My first pop punk show was New Found Glory. I absolutely adore them! It was New Found Glory, Further Seems Forever, Something Corporate, and Finch. So many amazing bands! Those were the days!

  2. So jealous you got to see MCS! They don't play Montreal NEARLY often enough. They used to be here more often but now I'm lucky to catch them once every two years or so. I swear if they tour here while I'm on vacation I might cry.

My first concert was technically Backstreet Boys when I was 7 years old. I don't remember MUCH about it but ohmygoodness it was love. My first concert on my OWN was when I was 14 or 15. I went to see From First to Last (and actually now that I think of it, Motion City opened for them! Ha!) and I actually fell in love with both of the bands there. I don't listen to FFTL anymore but I've always had a special place in my heart for Sonny Moore. And of course MCS. Loooove. I don't think I'll ever forget that show! Or at least, I hope I don't. I met Sonny after their set and he signed my pants and I fan girled. Haaaa, good times :)

  4. How fun for you! I bet your cousin loved going with you.
My first concert was Natalie Merchant. My dad took me when I was about 10. Okay I lied...it was New Kids on the Block but I don't like to admit that one so I'll go with Natalie Merchant. I'm pretty sure I was the only 10 year old there :)
