DIY: Chandelier Crystal & Gemstone Necklaces

This is a bit of an upcycle and sort of a DIY. Here is how I made two necklaces using the same technique, one with a gemstone and the other with a chandelier crystal.

The gemstone I found in my jewelry box - I must have gotten it on a field trip to a science museum in elementary school. There are so many beautiful stones at craft stores or even in nature that you could use to make a necklace like that.

I found the chandelier crystal at a flea market.

All you need is wire and chain, as well as whatever you want to use for pendants.

To create a pendant with a rock or stone that has no hole in it, wrap it several times with the gold wire and create a hoop on the top. For the chandelier crystal, wrap the wire through the hole, create a hoop at the top and then keep wrapping the wire around the top of the crystal.

Then, just put your newly created pendants on a chain.

Do you have any pretty stones or crystals that you've been wanting to make a necklace out of?

SIDE NOTE: Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there and, of course, my dad (who reads my blog daily)!

  1. Oh I really loves these. They definitely remind me of the types of necklaces I used to wear all the time when I was little. I think I might have to give this a try sometime soon!

  2. I have tonnes of polished stones that my grandma had tumbled - like a bucket! I used to, when I was into stained glass and soldering, make pendants out of them using led free solder. I really should get back into that stuff.
